Christmas Garland and Good News

My friend Sarah commisioned me to make a garland for her to give to her mother-in-law as a gift.  All I was told was to keep it the same color scheme as the scrapbook album I made in May- Golds and whites- and Christmas.
Inspiration Piece
I glued each tag to the hand dyed seam binding and made a little bow with a loop behind it for her to hang it from the mantle.  I use 3M clear hooks on my mantle to hang garlands.
The leaves here are cut from a plastic "floral" stem of glittered gold leaves.
I LOOOOOVVVVE the tiny wood stars from Studio Calico.  They are perfect on everything I have used them on and everything I have seen them used on.
The bow on his neck is actually the bow from the Holiday Wreath die.  The brads in the keyhole are covered with rhinestones.
I finally figured out how to make the Tattered Pinecones into Pinecones rather than the big mess I was getting.  I used the big Jolee bling instead of the paper "berries".
The wreath as intended with the bow at the top.  I added the bling for fun.
Again the plastic glittered gold leaves, the rhinestones covering the brads and the center of the poinsettia is a Jolee Bling.
Here I used pearls instead of the paper holly berries and added a big of vintage lace on the bottom.
Here I turned the wreath and added a seam binding bow.
An extra tag with the intended center for the Tattered Poinsettia covered with glitter.  I cut the largest leaves twice from two different papers to add interest and mimic the different colors (green and red) seen in a real poinsettia.

Good News 3 Ways:
1.  I think I have mentioned this already but I have 3 projects being published in Northridge Publishing publications in the near future- a Christmas wall art, my 2011 Christmas Card and a Valentine Garland set.  I haven't seen them yet, but I will let you know when I do.
2.  I just found out that I am getting an article… a real article…in Cloth Paper Scissors.  I'm not sure what issue it will be in but it is due soon.  I'm so flattered and thrilled and excited and just..Ugh in the best way possible.
3.  Finally, to end my bragging session, I was one of  the Top 3 on Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge for my rosette tag here.      Ok, I'm done for now.

Merry Christmas and My 2012 Packaging

So, there's my tree and mantle this year.  My Wrapping….
I was inspired by the pretty wrapping posted by my friend's the 2 Gypsy Girls, Paula and Deb on their blog One Lucky Day.  I didn't want to just rip off the design…ok so I did want to but I didn't have access to beautiful ribbons in a timely manor so I needed to do something else.  I went with seam binding.
You have to excuse my pictures- I thought I would have time in the morning to take them but spent all night with a vomiting 7 year old and only had a few minutes to snap the pictures.
I only had a few yards of ribbon left so I used white with red Rit dye.  Ok, so I hadn't been so busy and distracted I would have realized that putting 50 yards of seam binding into a washing machine was a bad plan.  An hour later and very red fingers I had disentangled the entire ball….not in one piece mind you.
The tags were made using various Alterations by Tim Holtz dies and my Vagabond.  First I used spray adhesive to attach vintage music paper or kraft paper colored with Color Shine.
The glitter is stuck on simply with redline tape in two different widths and glue dots.  So easy.
I added holes and eyelets and rubber stamped the names on each card.
The two younger boys got a much toned down version with just ribbon with a bow they could untie an the name tag.  You can't see but the names are also rubber stamped on the tags.
Santa even got his tags made this year AND he used red polka dot washi tape to attach them to the gifts.
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy (Belated) Hanukkah.

Compendium of Curiosity Week 33: Tissue Tape

Tissue Tape is my friend…This week's Compendium of Curiosity Vol. 2 Challenge is Tissue Tape.  By now you know that Tim Holtz wrote the book and Linda of Studio L3 is coordinating the challenge.  This week Simon Says Stamp is offering a $25 gift certificate to one lucky, randomly drawn winner.

I posted this right after another post so if you haven't seen the snowflake wall art be sure to check it out.

Mom and Michelle….Stop READING. WARNING Gift Spoiler AHEAD. ..Proceed with Caution…
I made some fun little wall art for gifts.  I used Tim Holtz's new Snowflake Rosettes and MiniSnowflake Rosette dies from Sizzix.  Of course I jazzed them up and added lots of bling and glitter.
