Compendium Week 25: Ink Palate Perfect Pearls

Perfect Pearls are front and center again for this week's Compendium of Curiosity Vol 2 Week 25 Challenge.   The technique is described on page 53 of Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosity Vol. 2 and you know the drill….I can't describe how I did the technique cuz you gotta go buy the book.  I mean Tim has to eat and buy way cool vintage thingys.

This week's Challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamps who is offering a $25 Gift Certificate to one randomly drawn winner.

I will share with you a little more about the two cards you see here.  I used Weathered Wood and then Black Soot Distress Ink and an Ink Blending Tool to lay down the background colors.  I used Tim's Spritz and Flick technique to add some "texture".  When that was dry I stamped the Skull from Apothecary (Stamper's Anonymous) with Embossing Distress Ink.  I used Detail Black embossing powder.  After the embossing powder was melted I painted the inside of the skull with 3 or 4 coats of white Perfect Pearls.  Now, I know it isn't maximizing the use of the technique- one of the butterfly stamps would have been a better choice- but I'm all about the Halloween Tags right now and I like giving the skull a wash of transparent-ish color.
I masked off the skull and stamped the verse from the same stamp set using metallic silver pigment ink (American Craft) all over the tag. I used the NEW Silver Metallic Distress Stain to edge the tag.
The bottom was first edged with a gathered ruffle of black crepe paper- I use the streamer type sold for birthday parties. It comes in a huge roll for night a lot of $$$ and so easy to cut to size.  After the ruffle was attached to the back using redline tape I attached the off cut from a patterned paper that came with the zig zag pattern.  The "Boo" is spelled out with a mixture of Alpha Parts (Ransom and Newsprint) which where then topped with Silver Paint Dabber.  The "31" are Idea-ology Numerals which were painted with Black Alcohol Ink and attached with the enclosed brads.  The top brad in each numeral were then topped with a Prima faceted crystal.  Finally the ribbon is a piece of Seam Binding I dyed
with Raven Glimmer Mist and a piece of Tim's new Silver Tinsel Twine.
The second tag was made almost the same way but I wrote "spooky" instead of "boo" with the same combo of Alpha Parts and the ribbon contains a pice of the Black Tinsel Twine.
Come back Tuesday after 8:30 to see my October tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2012
